Super important post about super important stuff!

Book blogging is a fickle thing.  It sweeps in, takes over your life and leaves you in an exhausted pile at the end.

I love blogging, it is great and so rewarding but it has a way of consuming you.  I have lost track of the amount of times I have been overly stressed and over worked by book blogging.  With work, uni and blogging I never have time to do any of the other things I love anymore.  I struggle to sit down and watch a movie with friends and I can’t remember the last time I read something just because I wanted to.

What I am trying to say, I guess, is that I’m tired.

I know what the beginning of this post sounds like but this is not me throwing in the towel.  I am not going anywhere but in order for me to make more time for me things are going to change around here…a lot and in ways you might not expect.

It is actually quite EXCITING!

The first change is going to be the types of book I review.  I have always loved and enjoyed fantasy and science fiction books (including paranormal, dystopian, horror and steampunk.)  They are what I read before I started blogging and they are what I love to read.  In terms of YA there will be very little change from what is already on the blog as a lot of what I currently read and feature already fall into these genres.  The more adult sections of this book will change a lot.  Straight up romance, contemporary and erotic works will no longer feature here unless they are a sub plot in one of the genres I mentioned above.

Another change for books will be tours and blasts which I will no longer be taking part in.  There is nothing wrong with them and I have really enjoyed doing them but they are not a part of what I envision this site to be anymore (unless it is something truly special).

The BIG change for this blog will be more content.  I am talking comics and graphics, movies and TV, culture and games, tech and anything else I can think of.  Not just reviews but news and discussion and other exciting things.

You are probably thinking that this sounds like a lot of extra work and at the beginning of this post I was moaning about blogging stress, but actually it isn’t.

Before I started a blog for just books I spread my free time equally between all different kind of things and I want to incorporate more of what I love into this blog and make it a lot more, well, me.

There will be design changes as well (so don’t be surprised if one day you come on here and it all looks different!) and a new name!!

BUT

I cannot do this alone and as of now am looking for co-bloggers and guest writers.  This blog is going to incorporate everything I love and it should incorporate stuff that you love too.   So if you love books, film, TV, gaming, comics, theatre or tech and would like to write about it then please contact me so we can have a discussion.  It doesn’t matter if you are interested in being a long term member of the team or are just super excited about something and want to shout about it, just come talk to me.

Lastly, I just want to thank the authors, publishers and most importantly the readers who have been doing this with me for the last nearly two years.  I truly value the readers of this blog, the ones who have just joined and the ones who have been here since the beginning and I hope you will stay with me through all these exciting (and slightly scary)changes.

If you want to get involved, shout at me, tell me I’m an insane hot mess or just wish me luck hit me up (not literally) on Twitter, email or in the comments here.

  2. I know the feeling of being stressed and over worked by book blogging. Sometimes it feels like I have a second job. So I'm pleased that you're taking steps towards making life easier for yourself and actually doing what you really like.
